Prior to using for the first time, the pump must be primed. Do this by pointing the Atrovent Inhaler 20 mcg/dsupright and away from the eyes and spraying several times.
If the inhaler pump is not used for over 24 hours, the pump must be primed again and this is done by spraying twice. If the pump is not used for over seven days, the pump must be primed again and this is done by spraying 7 times.
Prior to using, gently blow your nose if required. Close one of your nostrils by placing your index finger gently on the side of the nose. Tilt your head forward slightly and, making sure that the inhaler is upright, place the nasal tip in the second nostril. The tip must be pointed toward the outer side and back of your nose.
Press the inhaler quickly and firmly upwards with your thumb at the bottom of the inhaler as you are holding the white shoulders of the pump between the middle and index fingers. After each spray, sniff deeply and breathe out through your mouth.
